#MagicalMoments

Breakfast at daybreak, gazing at the reflections of the dawning sky on the water…
A simple pleasure we rarely take the time to appreciate

Présentation

Alternative accommodation is extremely à la mode at the moment – and the trend shows no sign of slowing soon! Holidaymakers continue to look for new and unique places to stay, provided by passionate hosts, and Domaine de la Dombes is undeniably one of the best resorts of its kind! With lov’nids (hanging “love nest” cocoons) and floating cabins, treehouses in the woods and animals all around… alternative travel starts here.

At the heart of the Dombes, close to nature

Each as original as the next, 30 unusual cabins at Domaine de la Dombes cater both for families and for couples seeking peace and tranquillity.

Alone in nature? Each lodge is ideally placed to give you a break from the annoyances of everyday life – so no buildings facing and no noise – in this 30 hectare park. Choose to sleep on the water, climb up among the treetops or look out for wildlife, including deer, mouflons and wild boar! But the unique experiences proposed at the resort aren’t limited to the accommodation, they include all aspects of life in the surroundings.

Are you ready to travel differently?

The well-travelled resort owners came back from one of their numerous treks wanting to share some of the experiences they had enjoyed. They wanted to let others experience spending a few days to a week in alternative and eco-friendly accommodation.

The offering is by no means comparable with mass tourism and is much more respectful of the environment. The owners have picked out the best of their own trips to offer you a range of unique experiences in a lush, well-preserved setting.

Animals all around

Donkeys, ponies, chickens, ducks, rabbits, pigs, deer, mouflons, wild boar… the list goes on! Every day you are welcome to join the staff and help out feeding the animals. And, new to 2017, the resort’s animal park will soon have an aviary.

“Adventure in a treehouse – your kids will love it”

“We stayed for one night in the ‘comfort’ tree-house Lutin. It was a very nice experience. There are different options of tree-houses, with electricity (comfort), with electricity and water (luxury) or without anything (adventure). For us it was adventure enough to take the one with electricity ;-). It’s super-cool for a night or maximum two, I wouldn’t stay much longer, as it then can become a bit inconvenient without water, the obligation to bring your own linens and towels, etc. Our tree-house was about 10 minutes’ walk from the reception and 5 minutes from facilities with showers – it had a beautiful view on the lake. You get your dinner and breakfast in a basket which you can then pull up on a string; this in itself was already quite an experience. The whole domaine is in a beautiful setting with a forest, the lake, another artificial lake for swimming with a sandy beach, the animals… You can rent bicycles, even for children, and watch how the animals are fed. Staff are friendly.” – Reviewed 11th September 2016 by KatrinGeneva
