This summer, follow in the footsteps of Jean-Jacques Rousseau and his famous ‘Rêveries’ (Daydreams) depicted in Olivier Bernex's paintings at Voltaire's château!
On the universal theme of meditative walking, Voltaire's château, in collaboration with Les Charmettes, is organising an exhibition of works by Olivier Bernex, a painter of gesture and colour, echoing Jean-Jacques Rousseau's Reveries of a Solitary Walker.
For both the artist and the philosopher, more than 200 years apart, walking is an inexhaustible source of introspection, reflection and creation.
The philosopher's words and ideas touch the painter and inspire him. The account of the ten walks in Rêveries gave rise to a first series of ten large-format works.
