When the audience enters the theatre to watch a performance of Ulysse, nothing is as usual: the set is not yet in place and the artistic team is just arriving. Are you early? Are they late? Between acrobatics, stunts, aerial feats and contortions, circus performers navigate their way through the props, equipment, ropes and other machinery necessary for the show to run smoothly. With a mixture of virtuosity and clumsiness, they work together to manipulate the set elements, stacking, transforming and constantly rearranging the spaces. They invent a thousand tricks, overcome countless disasters and, in their own way, embark on an odyssey.
After Von Münchausen, Le Scoparium and Tarkiz, Guillaume Bertrand once again shifts the boundaries of representation and distorts perception. Through dynamic and burlesque staging, he takes us into the intimate world of a troupe of artists and technicians during the staging and performance of an Odyssey of Ulysses.
