From Montrond to Grand Crêt d’Eau, the Ain offers a collection of the highest peaks in the Jura massif, starting with Crêt de la Neige. Four peaks line an itinerary with an evocative name: Les Balcons du Léman.

Gorges de l'Ain seen from Mont BalvayThanks to its ponds, mountain lakes and (magnificent) rivers… Already renowned for its vast natural spaces, the département is also renowned for the quality of its environment. Five of the thirty French rivers with the “Rivières Sauvages®” label are in the Ain, and 3 sites have been awarded the Ramsar label for their international importance as wetlands.
