Attesting to the exceptional quality of its air, the Plateau d’Hauteville was awarded the “climatic resort” label as early as 1924. In many people’s minds, Hauteville is first and foremost known for its health care services in the field of functional re-education and rehabilitation. Countless top athletes have passed through the resort’s beneficial climate. Just as naturally, Hauteville has established itself as one of the leading resorts for physical preparation and oxygenation for professional and amateur teams.

A land to breathe! Nature and wide-angle panoramas

An ideal altitude for an invigorating climate.
At an average altitude of 1,150 meters, the two plateaux offer the perfect setting for enjoying the benefits of the mountains without the constraints of altitude.

Please note

A Mecca of the Resistance

During the Second World War, the Plateau de Retord was a stronghold for the Ain and Haut-Jura Maquis. An 18-kilometre themed trail honours these fighters of the shadows.

A protected environment

The Plateau de Retord is classified as a ZNIEFF (Zone naturelle d’intérêt écologique, faunistique et floristique), guaranteeing preserved flora and fauna. Here, the valleys are home to deer, lynx and birds of prey, while the beech and fir forests, vital to the history of the Plateau d’Hauteville, provide refreshing coolness in summer. Classified as a “Station Verte de Vacances” and “Village de Neige”, Hauteville favors sustainable development and a gentle approach to tourism.
