Lake Genin

It’s a little corner of paradise we’d like to keep secret! In summer, you can swim, fish and get lost here. In winter, it becomes a frozen mirror where only skaters dare to venture. 830 meters above sea level, a postcard setting, a timeless atmosphere. It’s known as the “Little Canada of Bugey”. Ready for a trip?

A lost lake, but easy to find

In the middle of the Haut-Bugey forests, at an altitude of 830 meters, there’s a lake that seems to have escaped the frenzy of the modern world.
You reach it via a winding road, which plunges into the forest before emerging on the banks. Lac Genin, with its 8 hectares of water, surrounded by fir trees and peat bogs, instantly transports you to the atmosphere of Canadian lands….

A little paradise in summer and winter…

In summer, we want time to stand still

Feel like taking the plunge? It’s cool, perfect for invigorating a body numbed by the daily grind or hot summer temperatures. Swimming is supervised during the vacations, and the setting is authentic, with no superfluous leisure facilities. Just a shore where you can lie back and forget the time and your phone…

All year round! Find a selection of courses on ain-outdoor.com.

Lulled by the scent of the undergrowth and the cracking of branches underfoot, the hiking trails invite you to explore, whether you’re following a set route or feeling the urge to walk aimlessly.

In winter, everything becomes simpler

When the cold stings your fingertips, the lake becomes a skating rink. A rectangle of rough ice that the owner meticulously probes before giving the Go that delights all fans of Nordic sensations.

Can you hear the sound of crunching blades and laughter in the cold air? All around, snow-covered trails await those who prefer to walk, on snowshoes or just in good shoes.
