Mountain biking in the Ain mountains

Ridges, singles, D+, the real thing. Gravel, enduro, sweat and sharp turns. The Ain mountains are a playground for every kind of mountain biker. It’s downhill, it’s uphill, it’s alive. Would you like to try it?

Espace VTT-FFCT Ain-Forestière 1,500 km of pure pleasure (and a little sweat)

91 communities, 100 marked trails, 1,500 kilometers of trails at altitudes between 300 and 1,500 meters. The Espace VTT-FFC Ain Forestière isn’t just a playground, it’s a territory. From Culoz to Hauteville, from the Champdor forest to the crests of the Grand Colombier, you’ll find climbing, rolling and just the right amount of shaking. There are undergrowth singles, forest tracks that never end, descents where the brakes heat up and climbs where the thighs scream. Special mention for the Grand Tour VTT du Bugey Grand Colombier: 91 km, 2,408 m D+, reserved for those who like it rough. Here, people come to ride, sweat, exhaust themselves… and do it all over again.

La Grande Traversée du Jura VTT The massif on a grand scale, with the Ain as a highlight

The final stretch of the Grande Traversée du Jura mountain bike race, the section in the Ain department marks the grand finale. Between the Retord plateau and the crests of the Haute Chaîne, the route becomes wilder and more aerial. You’ll be looking at the Alps, your legs will be warming up as you climb the Crêt du Nu, and your breath will be taken away (literally) as you approach the Col du Grand Colombier.

Did you know? The Ain is also a Gravel region

Happy Gravel owner? Forest tracks, white roads, quiet village roads… In the Ain region, the terrain lends itself perfectly to this practice of freedom and contemplation. Less technical, more fluid, the Gravel takes you where the asphalt stops, without ever losing the thread of the adventure.
