The Grande Traversée du Jura (GTJ) cyclo in Ain

GTJ Cyclo: the southern part of the route through the Ain. From Mijoux to Culoz, ride through the heart of the Jura between mythical passes, forests and breathtaking panoramas. A sporting challenge in the heart of nature.

The route enters the Ain department magnificently through the Valserine valley, following this watercourse classified as a “Rivière Sauvage”. It then leaves the Valserine and the crests of the Haute-Chaine du Jura at Valserhône, before tackling the ascent of the Col de Cuvéry to reach the Plateau de Retord. This is followed by bucolic landscapes and a downhill profile to Culoz.

From Mijoux to Culoz, the GTJ Cyclo takes you on 3 intense stages in the heart of the Jura Massif, with the Valserine rivers, the Plateau de Retord and the legendary Grand Colombier along the way, offering a challenge worthy of experienced cyclists. Three stages, three atmospheres, an adventure to be lived on the edge of your handlebars.

Via Col de la Faucille

From Mijoux, it follows wooded roads with gradients of 5 to 6%! The Col de la Faucille takes you to an altitude of 1320m.

Par le Grand Colombier

It’s the perfect way to finish your tour, with a climb to the Grand Colombier, a pass at an altitude of 1498m, classified as “Hors Catégorie”.

The GTJ cyclo, 375 km from Montbéliard to Culoz

This cyclo-touristic route, which crosses the Jura Mountains from north to south over 375 km, is fully signposted and equipped with 9 Bosch VAE recharging stations.
