An easy pass for a good workout!
The Col de la Lèbe (914 m), on the edge of the Plateau d'Hauteville, offers a very pleasant climb with no major difficulties (5.3 % average gradient) on a good quality road. This 12.4 km ascent from Artemare (east side) takes you from the lower valley to the Bugey plateau, crossing the Valromey meadows. In a rural setting, with Le Grand Colombier as a backdrop to the east, you'll pass a few hairpin bends offering views of the Savoyard foreland and the Alps. On the road to the pass, 1 km from the summit, you'll find the Observatoire de la Lèbe, a scientific space for exploration, day and night, open to the general public. Take a break on the way down.
