The peat bog is rich in sphagnum mosses, and the water forms a circular basin 40 m in diameter and varying in depth from 2.5 m to 3.2 m, with a constant water level.
The Cerin peat bog is home to a large number of remarkable plant and animal species, including several protected species (Damier de la Sucisse, Bacchante, Azuré des Mouillères and Drosera butterflies).
