Golf sector

In recent years, golf has seen its image evolve from that of an “elite” sport to that of a leisure sport. But there have also been favorable trends, such as a sharp rise in the number of golfers (from 600,000 in 2007 to 800,000 in 2023), a high loyalty rate (91%) and the significant weight of golf tourism (30% of the sector’s sales).

The ambition

Make the Ain a golfing destination, with the aim of developing golf tourism.

The Ain, with the diversity of its 16 golf courses and its proximity to major customer catchment areas, can resolutely position itself as a destination for golfing holidays.

This ambition is enshrined in the Livre Blanc du Tourisme de l’Ain 2023-2028. To achieve this, Aintourisme coordinates the network of players in the industry and works in collaboration with golf course managers along several lines of development:

  • The organization of meeting days and working committees to create a network dynamic (mobilizing players in the industry, promoting exchanges of experience, partnerships and collective actions).
  • The creation ofa “showcase” offer of themed golfing holidays, based on other sectors (golf and gastronomy, golf and wellness, golf and heritage, golf and business…) aimed at golfers, tourists on holiday and also business customers.
  • Promote these offers through a variety of channels to raise awareness of the Ain as a golf destination, both nationally and internationally.
  • Raising awareness among golf clubs of their ecological transition initiatives, and promoting them.
