Ain, hiking just a train ride away

As part of the White Paper on Tourism, Aintourisme and the Comité départemental de randonnée de l’Ain, wish to reposition hiking in the tourism offering of the Ain destination, based on identity trails, micro-itinerant stays (2-3 days) and an ideal location between the metropolises of Lyon and Geneva, making it a hiking destination within easy reach by train.

A specific action plan has been deployed to :

  • Develop the offer and improve services to provide a quality hiking experience: selection of excellent routes, creation of 3- to 4-day micro-itinerary stays, creation of a hiking offer within easy reach of the train, and structuring around major itineraries (Chemin d’Assise, Chemin de Compostelle),
  • Promote and communicate to make the Ain’s hiking offer more attractive and more accessible, by promoting a presence at the Salon du Randonneur with our partners, by continuing to increase the offer on the Ain-outdoor platform, and by pushing targeted offers on digital and social networks (hiking weekends, hiking + train, the most beautiful panoramas, etc.).
  • Promote the industry and its players by creating opportunities for meetings and technical exchanges, facilitating the dissemination of information, as well as offering awareness-raising and training days.
