Bird Park

Take a tour of the world of birds: a festival of colors, sensations and knowledge are on the agenda when you visit the Parc des Oiseaux in the mysterious Dombes countryside. One day won’t be enough: it’s quite possible that you’ll want to come back again and again, to make sure you don’t miss out on any of the attractions offered by this park, the only one of its kind in France!

Wonderful birds

Multicolored feathers, harmonious song or discordant cries, sumptuous flights or clumsy walks, birds fascinate. The Parc des Oiseaux de la Dombes is unique in France and one of the largest in Europe.

In aviaries, in the wild, in free flight, birds are everywhere, including some extremely rare species. Spectacular or familiar, camouflage specialists or flamboyant, tiny in size or impressive in wingspan, birds from five continents make up a fascinating universe.

This bird’s-eye tour of the world will take you on a journey of wonder as you visit each of the stops along the tour route, one for each geographical zone (South America, Oceania, Europe, Asia, Africa).

A must-see with a surprising world tour of birds, but not only! We also came across walibis just a few meters away from the visitor. As a rule, you can get up close and personal with the birds, and it’s pretty cool! But above all, the most poetic: the butterfly greenhouse is incredible, with hundreds of butterflies flying overhead.

Flying around the world

Choreographed music and a ballet of birds in flight, a panoramic view from a bird’s nest, a nursery, gigantic aviaries – the world of poultry unfurls its colors and wings in a captivating spectacle.

Whether you’re a child or a parent, you’re sure to experience unexpected emotions: admiring the lords of the air in full flight, or feeling the joy of the charming pioupious singing at the top of their voices, are all unforgettable and precious moments.

The ride is extraordinary. You come into contact with a new world: in the aviary, the cheerful multicolored lorises land on your hands to steal a little nectar. Parrots, lammergeiers, hornbills, ostriches, cranes, vultures, lorises, flamingos, pelicans, bustards… The names of the birds fly along your route, stopping from continent to continent! To get the most out of your visit, plan ahead for the day, picnic in the park and take advantage of all the entertainment.

Endangered birds

Today, birds are under threat in France and around the world. While almost 30% of the bird population has disappeared in France in recent years, 11,000 bird species are threatened worldwide, including 1 in 7 in a critical state of extinction.

The park is actively involved in safeguarding, conserving and reintroducing endangered species such as the Black Vulture, Bearded Vulture and Little Bustard, notably through the Barnabé program.
