The discovery of one of the world’s longest sauropod tracks. Under the canopy that protects the trail, you can follow in the footsteps of a giant, the Sauropod Odysseus.

The traces are impressive… It’s incredible to think they date back millions of years. At the end, we enjoyed the activities, especially the introduction to digging for real fossils. The children didn’t leave empty-handed!

A stroll through the Jurassic

A beautiful walk awaits you in this 8-hectare protected natural area, facing the Jura mountains. The landscape and space are an invitation to let off steam with the whole family. Don’t forget to bring your good shoes, so you don’t get sore feet.

But above all, with the virtual reality headset, you’ll experience 3 minutes in the life of a dinosaur and, above all, change dimensions. The size of the footprints is impressive: the herbivorous friend, Odysseus, diplodocus or brontosaurus shoes big! Some tracks measure up to a metre in diameter, with all five fingers clearly visible.

Suddenly, you’re taking the measure of a totally different world and the gigantism of our predecessors on earth.

Educational interpretation panels accompany the visit, and children are given a booklet to follow the explanations. By solving the riddles, children (and sometimes parents) learn while having fun. A great way to discover the environment, biodiversity and the evolution of the Earth over the last 150 million years.

The story of a discovery

It was thanks to the passage of heavy machinery on a logging road that the footprints taken in the limestone subsoil emerged. An excavation began, uncovering a veritable sauropod trail. The discovery had a worldwide impact.

Ongoing research led to the identification of a new dinosaur morphology, Brontopodus Plangensis MAZIN, named after the village of Plagne!
