For a long time, Bresse was self-sufficient in terms of food: the land, worked over the centuries, had to be cared for. Beautiful hedged meadows, forage crops and corn (without irrigation) provide the ideal environment for raising dairy cows.

Staying close to the product

In the old days, butter-making was a women’s business, from skimming the milk to selling it on the market. Today, farm milk is processed, as close as possible to the milking, by committed dairy-butteries.

These human-scale butter factories are all located less than 40 kilometers from the farm.
