The Ain vibrates to the rhythm of the pedals! Every year, the Tour de l’Ain attracts the best riders to the department’s roads. The Tour du Valromey, reserved for young hopefuls, is a launching pad to the top level. For those looking for a challenge, the Aindinoise offers a sporting immersion in the heart of the Jura mountains. The Tour de France makes no mistake: it regularly passes through the Ain, attracted by the beauty of the passes and the technical nature of the courses. A region where cycling is more than just a sport: it’s a veritable culture.
The Tour de France will set off from Nantua for a 20ᵉ 185 km stage to Pontarlier. This rugged route, with a cumulative 2,850 meters of ascent, promises an intense day for the riders and a captivating spectacle for spectators. The winding roads of the Haut-Bugey region, with their landscapes of lakes and verdant forests, will provide a majestic backdrop to this penultimate stage, before the final finish on the Champs-Élysées.
The Ain region is home to several not-to-be-missed mountain bike events that appeal to amateurs and professionals alike. These include La Forestière, an emblematic event that takes place every September, crossing the Jura and Ain departments.
