Lac de Sylans

  • Lake
Elevation : 592m
01130 Les Neyrolles

Description

Today, a paradise for pike anglers; on its banks, you can see the ruins of the former ice factories which sold ice extracted from the lake (until 1917).
5 km east of Nantua, on the RD 1084, a landslide created Lac de Sylans by blocking the Doye spring. Lac de Sylans was awarded the "ENS" or "espace naturel sensible" label in 2015 by the Département de l'Ain. These ENS-labeled sites are true natural and landscape gems of the Ain department, preserved through local management and made accessible to as many people as possible when the fragility of the site allows.
