Adjoining the owners' home, the gîte has been fully renovated to offer you a peaceful and pleasant stay, in a well-kept décor blending tradition and modernity; you'll feel right at home.
The gîte is arranged over 2 floors and can comfortably accommodate up to 6 people.
On the first floor, there's an open-plan living area with a kitchen and large dining table, plus a cosy sitting area. There's also a spacious bedroom with a 140x190cm bed, a large wardrobe and a study area. The shower room and toilet are also on the first floor.
Upstairs, you'll discover a magnificent bedroom converted from a 200-year-old pigeon house; the natural Burgundy stone flooring and original exposed oak beams will take you back in time. This spacious 38m² room features a 180x200cm double bed, a wardrobe, a 90x190cm single bed and a desk area.
At the entrance to the gîte, you'll find a private area where you can enjoy your meals outside; you'll also have access to the park, where you can enjoy deckchairs in the shade of hundred-year-old trees.
Beds are made up on arrival and towels are provided. A wifi connection is also included.
Pets are welcome (provided you follow their owners for a walk!), and there's a parking space in the owners' private courtyard.
Situated 25 minutes from Bourg-En-Bresse and 20 minutes from Mâcon, the southern gateway to Burgundy, Le Nid de la Poipe is an ideal starting point for walks and excursions, whatever your interests: there's something for everyone!
If you're curious about our heritage, take a look at the motte castrale, the "poipe" of St Cyr-sur-Menthon, just 2 steps from the gîte. Then explore the Domaine des Saveurs / Les Planons (2 km away), a museum of Bresse traditions that promotes the art of "bien-manger" (long live the internationally-renowned Bresse poultry!) and local know-how, including the estate's farm, listed as a historic monument. Take a trip back in time to Cluny Abbey (37 km away), home to the largest medieval monastic order in the West, and follow the route des châteaux de Saône et Loire to come across some of the finest buildings in the region.
For epicureans and gourmets, visit the "Village Blanc" in Vonnas (8.5 km) and indulge in the brasserie or restaurant of its famous Michelin-starred chef, who will be sure to come and say hello. It's also the perfect opportunity to wander through the vineyards of the Mâconnais and taste some Burgundy wines, including the famous Pouilly-Fuissé. And don't miss the Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne market on Saturday mornings (21 km), classified as an "exceptional market" at national level, which will delight you with its atmosphere, local produce and cachet.
For nature lovers, we recommend a day at the Parc des Oiseaux de Villars-Les-Dombes (36 km), which will amaze young and old alike, or a bucolic cruise on the Saône from Mâcon (12 km) or Pont-de-Vaux (20 km), or a climb to the mythical Roche de Solutré (22 km), from the summit of which you can enjoy a magnificent panorama.
Finally, for sports enthusiasts and lovers of outdoor activities, there's plenty to choose from within a 20 km radius: Golf de la Commanderie, Golf de la Bresse, a leisure park with lake and swimming pool at Montrevel-en-Bresse and Cormoranche-sur-Saône, and green and blue paths for hiking and cycling.
The gîte has a wide selection of tourist information to help you organize your stay.
