Ain Tourisme Durable

Together for sustainable, accessible and practical tourism for Destination Ain

Sustainable tourism is not a separate practice, nor a specific tourism market.

It’s an approach that can be adopted by any tourism player by integrating the principles of sustainable development into its strategic management or the offering it provides. Sustainable tourism is also the responsibility of individual travelers: in their behavior, their daily actions, their choice of service provider, destination, etc.

Based on this observation, sustainable tourism is now at the heart of Aintourisme’s strategies, in line with the White Paper on Tourism 2023-2028. Deploying a sustainable tourism charter was an obvious choice, as a tool to unite the department’s tourism players around more responsible practices that respect the environment and create value for our region.

Our aim is to initiate a progressive and accessible approach by 2025, enabling everyone to contribute to making the Ain a sustainable destination by nature.

71% of French people

want to travel more responsibly.

63% of French people

are familiar with the concept of sustainable tourism.

59% travelers

deplore the lack of responsible offers.

A collective approach

The success of this initiative is based on a shared commitment between :

  • Aintourisme networks and partners: Gîtes de France, Clévacances, UMIH01, Campings de l’Ain and Saveurs de l’Ain,
  • local authorities and their Tourist Offices,
  • and all Ain tourism professionals (accommodators, restaurateurs, tourist sites, etc.).

Our credo: an accessible, progressive approach

More than just a commitment, the Ain Tourisme Durable charter has been designed to support every player, whatever their starting point, by providing concrete tools to help them evolve gradually and meet the new aspirations of their customers.
